Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmailThe NYC junior sailors got the 2011 season off to a great start with a successful and entertaining Junior Spring Open regatta on 19th and 20th of March hosted by RSGYC. The National Yacht Club had a large number of entries with many of the Spring Training Teams taking part. In the Laser 4.7s , Sian Kneafsey was 2nd overall, Susie O’Neill 7th and Ben Raymond 10th .  There was a large entry of NYC sailors in the Optimist class with 21 NYC optimists competing in the Main and Regatta fleets out of the 68 entries, winning 3 of the 5 classes  In the Main Fleet of 52 sailors, Sean Donnelly came 2nd overall with Daniel Raymond 7th, Conor Kneafsey 11th and Conor Totterdell 15th. We wish to highlight the success of the most junior of our sailors in the Optimist Regatta Fleet. These sailors are aged 8 – 10 years and for many it was their first experience of sailing in a regatta. We are very proud that 6 of the top 8 places went to National Yacht Club Sailors, 1st Peter Fagan, 2nd Clare Gorman, 4th Ella Hemeryck, 6th Katie-Jane Marshall, 7th Cian Murphy and 8th Patrick Coyle.Congratulations to all the team and to their coach Katie Malcolm who prepared them so well for this important event launching their racing careers (see photo)!
