Solitaire du Figaro – Berthing works progress report

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmail Works to put in place the berths necessary to host the stop over of La Solitaire du Figaro (10th to 14th August) carry on on a tight schedule. Back last November, the County Council planning department produced this artistic impression of the overall stop-over, its temporary marina and festival village. This is a very significant advance for Dun Laoghaire as an additional berthing capacity to host large events will now be available. The physical elements of the puzzle are now arriving to Dun Laoghaire: The sinkers and chain used to anchor down the pontoons to the sea bed have been prepared and are laying on the Carlisle Pier, ready to be sunk in position. The gangway allowing the public to access the pontoons directly from the top of the Carlisle Pier is expected to be delivered to Dun Laoghaire on Friday 15th July. Finally the pontoons have been loaded up on trucks from the manufacturing company in Spain and are on their way for an ETA in Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday 20th July…
