NYC Golf outing to Connemara report

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmailWe played the Ballyconneely course in October 2011 in strong windy conditions, and managed to dodge all the rain which was forecast.  This time though, it was different. In fact you could be forgiven for thinking that we had arrived in the wrong country.  We hardly saw a cloud all weekend, and it was so hot, that all players had to resort to golf buggies (I promise you that this had nothing to do with the vast amount of wine consumed, or the very late nights!) The scenery on the course was divine, and the drive out from Clifden was quite stunning in the warm sunny conditions, beautiful white beaches and azure calm seas. The golf wasn’t too shabby either, and the format was 2-day combined stableford points.  The Corcorans must be sharing the same PEDs, as the pair of them ran away with it on 59 points (Tony) and 58 points (Linda)… fact, both had the top score of 35 points on the second day.  Tony clearly likes this course, as he won here last year too.  Kerri came a close 3rd with 56 points, but the rest of us couldn’t handle the sweltering hear over the 2 days. The usual late-night carry-on happened on the Abbeyglen, and we were treated to some fine singing from Maura VanDyck and Ted in particular. We finished up on Saturday at the Golf Club, sitting out on the veranda in the evening sunshine, and wishing we could stay just one more day – a great weekend! Blainroe is out next outing on 15th June, and then we break for a few months. Results MEN
