Philip has already run this course successfully in the RIYC and is scheduled to run it in the RStGYC.  We are proposing to run the 8 week course, subject to sufficient numbers, on a Tuesday evening in the Club from 8pm – 9.30pm starting on Tuesday 26th February. Below is the summary of the course as prepared by Philip.  In order to make this course as interactive as possible, the class will be limited to 10 participants. Parlons Francais Spoken French for Adults Is your French a little rusty?  If you find yourself in France or in the company of French speaking people either socially, through business or in the world of sailing, do you have difficulty in making yourself understood or understanding what is being said to you?  Well now is the opportunity to improve your conversational French and gain in confidence while doing so. What is involved – Led by a fluent French speaker, Parlon Francais consists of eight weekly one and a half hour sessions designed to give participants the opportunity to improve their spoken or conversational French.  Each session begins with a practical exercise in comprehension and pronunciation based on subjects which can be encountered in normal everyday conversation.  This is then followed by informal conversations led by the tutor around topics selected by the group as a whole or in line with a particular participants requirements. Sessions are limited to a maximum of 10 participants in order to ensure that each person can receive individual attention and derive the maximum benefit by conversing within small subgroups. Who should attend? – These sessions are not for beginners, i.e, people who know little or no French.  However they will be of benefit if you can communicate with partial success using simple tenses and everyday vocabulary. Cost – €175.00 per person
