Happy New Year to all! 2017 promises to be a fun filled, exciting year for our Optimist Sailors. The first big event of the year is Baltimore Spring Training Week.

Baltimore week is a fantastic week of sailing for all Optimist sailors of all levels of ability. It takes place during the February mid-term break from Sunday 19th February to Friday 24th February 2017.

The closing date to enter Baltimore Spring Training Week is on January 16th! This is only 5 days away, so don’t miss out and ENTER TODAY!

Christmas Junior Regatta RSGYC 3rd December

The RSGYC will be hosting its Christmas Regatta on Saturday the 3rd of December 2016 and would like to extend an invite to our Junior Sailors. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, this will be moved to Sunday the 4th of December as an alternative day. There will be no late entry fee charged if sailors are signed up by this weekend 26/27 November.

COL End of Season Junior Regatta – Results / Gallery

Thanks to all kids who took part in a very windy event! The Regatta Fleet had to be cancelled unfortunately (safety first!) but our brave Main Fleet competitors battled out the conditions albeit inside the harbour where the Main Fleet course was relocated. 420 Ulsters 2016 – Report

The 420 Ulsters 2016 took place at Strangford Lough Yacht Club on 24th/25th September. 11 teams competed in a very windy event. Racing was cancelled on the Saturday due to the storm; however, the sailors got in 3 races on Sunday in gusty weather with wind speeds up to 25 knots.

Juliette Kennedy (SLYC) and Emily Hill (CAYC) won the event, Nicola and Fiona Ferguson (NYC, pictured with Mum Michele in the background) came second, and Gemma and Cara McDowell (MYC) came third.
