NYC Sailor Loghlen Rickard is Youth Laser Radial North American Champion

NYC sailor Loghlen Rickard was the Youth Laser Radial North American Champion (6th overall). He competed at the Laser North American Laser North American Championships hosted by the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, June 21 – 25, 2017 in English Bay, Vancouver Canada. The racing was held over 4 days of varied light to medium winds. Loghlen started strong with a bullet in race one, and had 8 top 5 finishes in the 12 race event. Fort Lauderdale’s Sophia Reineke and Loghlen came off the water after 12 races tied on points in 1st and 2nd – but a controversial protest saw them both DSQ’d in race 12 and resulted in Vancouver Yacht Club’s own two-time Olympian taking the top step of the podium.
