The NYC bridge group returns to its regular (Thursday) schedule on 14th September.  Bridge games were held on Tuesdays during the summer while Thursday racing took place.

The final Tuesday bridge game was held on Tuesday 5th September and this was a special occasion because it marked the first anniversary of long-term convenor and organiser of the bridge group, Ida Kiernan who also was a former Commodore of the club.

Bridge was followed by dinner during which Ida’s hard work and achievements were recalled and celebrated and we were joined by members from other waterfront clubs for the bridge game and the dinner.

Thursday night bridge resumes at 7.30pm on 14th September and on every Thursday during the winter.  In order that play commences on time, players are requested to arrive early and in time to be seated not later than 7.25pm.

Bridge Notes – National Yacht Club wins the GIN trophy!!

Bridge Notes – National Yacht Club wins the GIN trophy!!

The annual interclub bridge competition between the waterfront yacht club (George, Irish, National - GIN) teams took place on Tuesday 21st March. This year it was the turn of National Yacht Club to host the event and, once again, the NYC team was successful. This was the fourth successive win by the NYC team.

The competition was preceded by dinner and the quality of the meal certainly merited the favourable comments of our visitors.  Thanks are due to the management and staff for the excellent service.

Bridge in the Club had to be suspended during the Covid crisis and has only been revived in recent months.  All thanks are due to Jackie Flynn who, following the sad loss of her friend and long term bridge partner and long term bridge convener Ida Kiernan, has taken up the task of organising all the bridge events.

Weekly bridge competitions take place in the Club on Thursday evenings. It is a friendly social type of bridge and new members will be warmly welcomed.
