Blackrock Hospice Collection

The Dublin Bay Volunteers thank the Members of the National Yacht Club for their generosity  to  the Blackrock Home Care Collection on the last Thursday night DBSC Race.  The total received is €2300.00 which is wonderful and more than last year’s collection.   A very special thanks to Colm Murray for his hard work as the NYC members contribution was €461.50.

Women Take the Helm at the National Yacht Club

 Gail MacAllister, Irish Sailing’s Regional Development Officer and Co-ordinator for the Women on the Water Ireland (WOWI) programme talks to Helen Cooney about how the programme is run at the National Yacht Club.

“Women sailing together as a group create great friendships and are naturally supportive of each other. Learning to sail in an all women’s environment means having fun and takes the intimidation out of starting racing on a busy race course like DBSC…”

NYC member Alan Green in Flying Fifteen champion team

Congratulations to National YC sailor Alan Green, who has added to his many past successes by winning the Flying Fifteen Championship of Ireland at County Antrim Yacht Club at the weekend.  Alan was crewing with FF World Champion Steve Goacher, of Royal Windermere YC, and the pair won five out six races at the event.

This weekend sees the Merrion Private Optimist Leinster Championships taking place in The National Yacht Club, in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.  We are looking forward to a great weekend of sailing for this IODAI  last regional event of 2017.
