• The rope work course is due to start on Monday 1st November 2010 and will run for a period of 5 weeks.

• Course Fee €140.00 & all equipment is supplied ie. Rope; Splicing Fids; Whipping Twine & Needles etc.

1. Basic Knots

2. Whipping

3. 3 Stand Splices

4. Braided Splices

5. Dyneema One braid splices

Course Layout:

• Week 1 – Basic Knots (Reef Knot; Sheet Bend; Fishermans’ Bend; Clove Hitch etc.)

• Week 2 – Whippings & 3 Stand Splices (Common whipping; Sailmakers’ Whipping & Eye Splice Back Splice etc.)

• Week 3 – Braided Splices (Covered Eye Splice, Open Eye Splice; Contineous Diameter Splice etc.)

• Week 4 – Braided Rope Splices Cont’d.

• Week 5 – Dyneema One Braid slices (Eye Splice; Light Sheets; Dinghy Main Sheets etc.)

At the end of the course each candidate should be competent in all the above mentioned Knots & Splices.
