ISORA Celebrates 2015 Offshore Season at National Yacht Club

174 ISORA members and guests were treated to a very special evening to celebrate the 2015 season at the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire in the annual ISORA Avery Crest Prize giving and Dinner dance on Saturday evening 14th November. Rescue Drama on Final Day of NYC Frostbite Series

Sixteen Flying Fifteen’s took part in Saturdays racing where there was drama on the water when Joe Coughlin’s crew Ed Ruane had to be taken from the boat with a dislocated shoulder.  The drama unfolded on the reach in Race 2 when Joe himself fell overboard leaving Ed to fend for himself with the spinnaker still up in a force 4!

NYC RS Ventures available for DMYC Frostbite Series

The 3 Club’s RS Ventures are available to charter for our members wishing to take part in the DMYC Frostbites series for dinghies (every Sunday from 1st November 2015 to 20th March 2016). The charter fee for the full duration of the series is €300 per boat.

Winter Platform Parking – Applications due

Dinghies taking part in either the junior training sessions or the DMYC Frostbite racing series must return the platform parking application form together with payment prior to bringing their boats back on the platform. Please note that platform parking DOES NOT REOPEN before Saturday 24th October as the boathouse still has to lift many keelboats on trailers and position them on the platform post our main lift-out on Saturday 17th.

RIO APPEAL

Unfortunately, for cost reasons, the ISA has decided not to bring boats to the upcoming Trials in Rio which means Finn must charter a boat for the event.  This must be done immediately otherwise there will be no chance of getting a good boat.  On top of this, funds have to be found for food and accommodation in Rio.  These costs will be approximately 10k.

Royal Cork’s O’Leary Retains All Ireland Title in Style

The defending All Ireland Sailing Champions Anthony O’Leary with crew Dan O’Grady and Cian Guilfoyle were winners again but this year by a clear margin of five points after two days of the competition hosted by the N.Y.C.
