Bridge Notes
Following the disruption caused by the Covid pandemic, NYC bridge has continued to recover during the 2022/23 season. Now that yachts are back in the water and Thursday racing has recommenced, weekly bridge competitions have moved to Tuesday evenings and it is hoped to continue every Tuesday until July. As usual, play commences at 7.30pm and players are urged to arrive and be seated by 7.20pm to ensure a prompt start.
As always, new members will be very welcome and they will experience bridge competitions in a friendly and social atmosphere.
National Yacht Club â Winter Table Quiz series 2022/23
On 5 April, the final round of the winter table quiz series was held with 18 teams participating. We had an enthralling finish to a captivating season, where any one of three teams were in with a chance to win the overall prize.
Congratulations go to team WIZARD who won on the night and captured the BRAINS OF THE BAY TROPHY beating The Corner Boys and Enchantress into 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The 11-quiz series was a great success with 22 different teams participating throughout the series, as well as a Christmas dinner and a final round Club dinner to round off the competition, where the Commodore presented the trophy to the successful WIZARDS (pictured ).
We look forward to welcoming all teams (old and new) back next Autumn. We will kick off again on the 18th October (put the date in your diaries!) - watch out for updates in the Newsletter.

Bridge Notes – National Yacht Club wins the GIN trophy!!
The annual interclub bridge competition between the waterfront yacht club (George, Irish, National - GIN) teams took place on Tuesday 21st March. This year it was the turn of National Yacht Club to host the event and, once again, the NYC team was successful. This was the fourth successive win by the NYC team.
The competition was preceded by dinner and the quality of the meal certainly merited the favourable comments of our visitors. Thanks are due to the management and staff for the excellent service.
Bridge in the Club had to be suspended during the Covid crisis and has only been revived in recent months. All thanks are due to Jackie Flynn who, following the sad loss of her friend and long term bridge partner and long term bridge convener Ida Kiernan, has taken up the task of organising all the bridge events.
Weekly bridge competitions take place in the Club on Thursday evenings. It is a friendly social type of bridge and new members will be warmly welcomed.
