Gorman/Doorly pipped at Flying Fifteen Nationals in Stangford Lough

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmailFlying Fifteens screen shot  The National Yacht Clubs Dave Gorman & Chris Doorly were extremely unlucky not to come away with the Flying Fifteen Championship of Ireland Trophy at the weekend after some thrilling racing in a variety of conditions. It was all down to the last ‘winner takes all’ race on Sunday and after leading for most of it they just lost out on a wind shift on the last beat to local Strangford sailors Andrew McCleery & Colin Dougan. Eleven boats travelled from the National to Portaferry where we were all received a warm welcome as usual. For first time travellers such as Ralf & Dominico it was an experience to say the least, as it was for others also! Congratulations to David Mulvin & Ronan Beirne on winning the Silver fleet finishing in an excellent 7th place ahead of many of the Gold Fleet. Others to perform well were Niall & Nicki Meagher with three top five results on Saturday. Holders Ian and Keith were unable to repeat the heroics of last year but no doubt they will be back.
