Sunday, 5th February   Where? The Dublin Mountains Way from Shankhill to The Scalp via Rathmichael Wood, Carrickollogan, and Barnaslingan – returning via The Lead Mines.   Distance: Approx 12km   Ascent: 280 metres   Time: 3.5 hours including stops.   Grade: 2-3 (Easy – Moderate) on a scale of 1-5 (Easy – Difficult). Suitable for anybody of a reasonable level fitness. Some uphill sections but nothing difficult.   Meeting Point: At the start of The Dublin Mountains Way in the car park at Brady’s Pub in Shankill.   Meeting Time: 10.45a.m. to start walking at 11.00a.m sharp.   What to bring: Suitable footwear – walking boots recommended – rough ground/muddy in places. Clothing & wet gear appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions.   Sustenance: Water. Picnic lunch.   Parking: Caution – Experience has shown that the car park at Brady’s Pub may be manned by security personnel who are not welcoming of walkers.   There is on-street parking in the vicinity. There is also a car park behind the shops and Brady’s pub which is accessed by by turning right just after crossing the railway bridge heading towards Shankhill (signpost for Health Centre & Library). Having turned right off the main road turnleft on to the Lower Road at the sign for The Health Centre. There is a car park at the end of this road. You will find a lane to bring you into Brady’s Pub Car Park.   Shankhill is also serviced by the DART and by Dublin Bus #145. No Dogs Please
