Final Topper Traveller

As the season draws to a close the final Topper Traveller was held in Wicklow Sailing Club on Sept 25th. Light winds and a very strong tide made for 4 challenging races.
Representing the NYC was Ella Fitzgerald who finished 4th overall and 1st girl out a fleet of 60 boats.

The one day event traveller series showed its continuing popularity with over 70 entries being capped at 60 due to capacity issues. In 2023 this series will be a focus for the up and coming members of team NYC.

Royal Irish Duo Win RS Feva Contest at National Yacht Club Hosted East Coast Championships

At the weekend, a fleet of twenty-six boats and fifty-two sailors descended on the National Yacht Club for the RS Feva East Coast Championships.

Race Officer Larry Power delivered six races in sunny sailing conditions over two days. The wind off Scotsman’s Bay was light on Saturday, with the first race reaching a maximum of 12 knots but dropping dramatically as the day progressed. Day 1 tested the teams to the full with light, shifty winds making it very tricky for sailors not used to racing in light winds. Sunday brought more consistent wind reaching 10+ Knots, with the Feva Spinnaker bringing many colours to Dublin Bay.

Dun Laoghaire sailors Mia – Mai Hooper and Tom Flannery from the RIYC were in top form over the two days and took 1st Place in the Gold Fleet.

Optimist Ulsters Championships in Howth – NYC Report

Lots of smiles and action shots from our brilliant 18 sailors at the Optimist Ulster Championships in Howth over the weekend with more than 145 sailors from all over the country.

Champagne conditions on Saturday with great racing, however very breezy challenging conditions on Sunday with only some fleets racing.

Well done all! And especially for Charles, Allana and Adan competing for the first time.
