Junior Sailing

Great performance again from the NYC optimist sailors for the first new format IODAI National Training Week.

The National Training Week will now replace the traditional training week in Baltimore which used to be held in February. This training week will happen at Halloween mid-term at different clubs around the country every year. Report from Opi Munsters

Great performance from the National Yacht Club optimist sailors last weekend with 2 fleet winners (senior main fleet and regatta fleet) for the Munster Championships in Cork Harbour!

9 National Yacht Club sailors took part in the last optimist regional event of the season, was hosted by Monkstown Bay Sailing Club and launched from Paddy’s Point slipway in Ringaskiddy.
The 126 sailors had great conditions with 15kts on Saturday and 16-22kts on Sunday and blue sky!

In the main fleet senior (35 boats), William Walsh NYC came 1st overall with a 9 point lead. Hannah Walsh, 3rd in silver fleet and 17th overall.

In the main fleet junior (50 boats), Louise Hanley came 3rd in silver fleet, Félix Dion, 9th in silver and Lucas Browne, 13th silver.

In the regatta fleet (41 boats), Basile Dion came 1st overall, Max Neary, 2nd bronze and 4th overall.  Our youngest NYC Sailor Aurèle Dion finished 4th the bronze fleet and 6th overall, and was the youngest saucer at the event too, and Louis Trikett finished 7th in the silver fleet.

Fantastic results, well done all!
